Most people would like to think that men and women should be treated equal in all situations, and while this is absolutely true, there are some situations in life where men and women are treated differently. One perfect example of this is when it comes to safety. Most women would agree that they feel like they need to take extra precautions as a woman than their male counterparts. It would be great if this weren't the truth but unfortunately most women do need to be more careful then most men. This is a fact that a lot of women just accept. There are some tips that, as a woman, it might be helpful to follow when it comes to your safety.
- Give an appearance of confidence even if you are not feeling that way. The less you appear to be an easy target, the less likely that you will become one. Body language can play a huge role in how you are perceived by others. If you walk down the street with your head up, aware, and confident, then you appear to be in control. However, if you walk nervously down the street, looking over your shoulder every two minutes, you are going to invite more trouble.
- Be careful about where you walk alone at night. Use your judgment as well. If you have a bad feeling about a person or a street, turn around and go the other way. Don't feel bad about second guessing someone, when it comes to your safety it's better safe than sorry.
- Keep your keys in your hand. Not only do these make a good weapon if you were to need one, but you are ready when you arrive to your car or home. Instead of fumbling around in your purse and appearing distracted you will be ready to unlock the door and go.
- At home, always keep doors and windows locked, even when you are home in the middle of the day. You never know when danger could strike. If you have a home alarm system, always keep it activated at night and when you are out of the home. A lot of people have a home alarm but they don't always use it when they go out for short periods of time during the day or at night. If there is someone watching the house, it only takes you being gone for ten minutes for someone to break in and wait there for you to return.
- If you live alone, make sure that you get to know our neighbors. It's always good to have someone nearby keeping an eye on you and your home. If you ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for you, you know that you are not alone.
Personal and home security is an important thing to every woman. There are many things you can do to create a safer environment for yourself. Don't hesitate to do these things.
